Privacy Policy
In short: your video files stay on your iPhone. To make a cut, Kliplo sends the sound of your takes, the words you say and a few small still frames through our server to an AI service. We use this to make your videos and to look into a job that failed. When you save a video, the app sends a small picture of it (a few frames on one sheet), and now and then a short log of what it did, such as the screens you opened, the editing steps and how long a save took (never your video file, sound or words), so we can see what works and fix what doesn't. The app also tells our server which steps you reach (the app opened, an import started, a cut ready, a video saved or shared, the editor opened), never what you filmed or said, so we can see what works in the beta. There are no ads and no third-party tracking in the app, and you can delete your account in the app at any time.
1. Who we are
Kliplo is an iPhone app made by Robin Hood LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company, 603 Capitol Avenue, Suite 413A, 3094, Cheyenne, WY 82001, USA (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy. Questions or requests: support@kliplo.app.
This policy covers the Kliplo app and this website, kliplo.app.
2. What stays on your iPhone
- Your video files. Clips you import, drafts and finished videos are stored inside the app on your iPhone. The full video files are not uploaded to us.
- Editing. Cutting, captions, zooms, B-roll, sound effects and saving the final video all happen on your iPhone.
- Caption timing. To time captions to your words, the app uses Apple's on-device speech recognition on your finished video.
- Your settings are stored on your iPhone.
- Your profile photo, if you choose one, stays on your iPhone.
3. What the app sends, and why
To find the best takes, remove pauses and repeated lines, and suggest hooks, captions and B-roll, the app needs AI help. For this it sends the following to our server, which runs on Google Cloud:
- Sound of your talking takes (audio only, 16 kHz mono).
- Words: the text of what you say, with timings, and notes about delivery, shots and B-roll.
- Small still frames from your clips (at most 384 × 384 pixels, low quality), for example to see whether you look into the camera or what a B-roll clip shows.
- Brand and product names you enter for a video.
Our server forwards these to the AI service provider that does the analysis and returns the result to the app. We only use AI services that process this content to answer our requests and do not use it to train their models. Every AI service we use is on a paid plan where your content is not used to improve the provider's products.
This AI processing is how the app makes a cut, so it is part of the service you sign up for. If you don't want it, don't use the app to make videos, and delete your account.
4. Your account
You sign in with Google or an e-mail code. Sign-in is handled by Google Firebase Authentication. Depending on how you sign in, we receive:
- a user ID;
- your e-mail address;
- your name, if the sign-in provider shares it.
If you sign in with an e-mail code, we send the code to your address through our e-mail provider, Resend. We store a one-way hash of your e-mail address and of the code, so we can check the code and limit attempts.
Your name and e-mail are also kept in your iPhone's Keychain, so the app can show them.
5. What we keep on our server
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Account: user ID, plan status and usage counts | To run your account, your plan and fair-use limits | Until you delete your account |
| Profile: your e-mail address, and the name and answers you give when you sign up (what you make, where you post, how many videos you make and how you edit today, rough cut or finished video) | To know who uses the beta, contact you about it and shape the app | Until you delete your account |
| Video jobs: sound files, words, timings, small still frames and notes for each video you make, and the result | To make the cut, let you open it again, and look into a job that failed | Deleted automatically after 7 days, or when you delete your account |
| AI answers (the text the AI returned) | To avoid paying twice for the same request and to fix problems | Deleted automatically after 1 day |
| Problem reports you send (category, your note, app and iOS version, device model) | To fix bugs and bad cuts | Until you delete your account |
| App logs: short lines about what the app did (screens opened, editing steps by name, imports and saves with how long they took, the phone's free storage, memory use and temperature, and whether something failed or the app closed unexpectedly), with the app and iOS version and device model. Sent now and then and when something goes wrong. Never your video, sound or words. | To find and fix crashes, slowness and failures | Until you delete your account |
| Pictures: when you save a video, one picture of 8 small frames from it (about 200 pixels wide each); when you report a problem, a picture of the screen you came from, unless you turn it off in the report | To see what the app made for you and what went wrong | Deleted automatically after 7 days, or when you delete your account |
| Usage moments: which step you reached (app opened, import started, cut ready, video job sent, video saved or shared, editor opened), with the time, the number of clips, and the app and iOS version. Never your video, sound or words. | To see what works in the beta and fix what doesn't | Deleted automatically after 180 days, or when you delete your account |
| Purchase records from Apple, once paid plans exist (product, dates, transaction IDs) | To give you what you paid for, handle refunds and keep accounting records | As long as accounting law requires; disconnected from your account when you delete it |
| E-mail sign-in codes (hashed) and attempt counts | Security, to limit guessing | Short-term, only while the code can be used |
| Daily cost totals across all users (no personal data) | To keep an eye on costs | Kept |
Our server and storage run on Google Cloud in the EU (Finland, europe-north1). Some service providers, such as the AI service, may process data outside the EU/EEA, for example in the USA. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Write to us for a copy of these safeguards.
Our AI service provider may keep requests for a short time to detect abuse, as its terms allow, and then deletes them. It does not use them to train its models.
6. Problem reports
If you tap “Report a problem”, the app sends the category you pick, the note you write, the app and iOS version, your device model and which screen you came from. Reports do not include your video, sound or words.
7. Purchases
The app is free during the beta. If we add paid plans, they will be sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment; we never see your card details. Apple sends us a signed record of each purchase so we can unlock your plan.
8. Permissions on your iPhone
- Add to Photos: to save your finished videos.
- Photos (full access, only if you ask): to delete originals you already imported, when you use “free up space”. iOS asks you to confirm.
- Speech recognition: to time captions to your words, on your iPhone.
- Notifications: a local notice on your iPhone when your videos are ready. We do not send push notifications.
The app does not use your camera, microphone, location or contacts.
9. What we don't do
- No ads and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting services in the app. App logs and pictures go to our own server; crashes, failed saves and problem reports also go to our team's Slack, so we see them quickly.
- We don't sell your personal data, we share it only with the service providers listed below, and we don't use your content to train AI models.
- This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase Hosting) handles standard technical data, such as your IP address, to deliver the pages and keep them secure.
10. Service providers
- Google (Google Cloud, Firebase Authentication, Firebase App Check): server, storage, sign-in, protecting our server from misuse.
- AI service providers: analysis of the sound, words and stills described above.
- Apple: App Attest, and App Store purchases once paid plans exist.
- Slack: when the app reports a crash, a hang or a failed save, or you send a problem report, the details (the log lines, app version, device, your e-mail and your note) are posted in our team's Slack workspace.
- Resend: sending e-mail sign-in codes.
11. Deleting your data
- In the app: delete single clips and videos, or free up space in Profile › Storage. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone.
- Delete your account: in Profile, tap Delete account. This deletes your account and, on our server, your video jobs and their sound files, AI answers, problem reports and profile. Purchase records are kept without your user ID, as described above. Videos on your iPhone stay until you delete them.
- What remains for a while: a note that the account was deleted (its user ID only) is kept for 30 days, so nothing new can start on it. Our server's technical logs, which can contain your user ID, are deleted after 30 days. Slack messages about your problems are deleted on request.
- You can also ask us by e-mail at support@kliplo.app.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to support@kliplo.app and we will answer within 30 days.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performing our contract with you (making your videos, including the AI processing, your account and purchases), our legitimate interests (security, fixing problems, preventing misuse, and knowing who uses the beta) and legal obligations (accounting).
13. Children
Kliplo is only for people aged 18 or older, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us data, write to us and we will delete it.
14. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only our server can read and write our database; the app has no direct access. Uploads use short-lived signed links. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
15. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If a change matters for how your data is used, we will tell you in the app.
